Adam Brobjorg started making music around age 2 when his parents gifted him a little rainbow colored 5 key bell piano. Then, at age 7, he discovered his passion for photography while on vacation at Disney Land in California. Here, his parents bought him a Mickey Mouse kids camera - he had so much fun with it and learned that he could show other people what he saw through this amazing invention. Then, in the 9th grade at St. Mark’s School of Texas, Adam began taking year long digital photography courses and really got serious about creating fine art with photography. He was able to listen to music in the photo lab, and this is why he enjoyed photography so much at St. Mark’s - listening to music on campus was generally not allowed; however, in the photography lab the students were granted permission. Adam and his friends would share the coolest songs that they found on the internet, and around the middle of his 9th grade year, he realized that music was something he wanted to create. He had been hearing beautiful music in his head, ever since he was little, that could only be described as futuristic, ecstatic, and bliss. Throughout his high school years, Adam attempted to create these sounds that he heard in his head; however, he failed - over and over again - he realized these sounds were going to take a long time to make. Adam decided to stick mainly with photography, up until senior year in math class, when he started drawing when the teacher refused him from using a calculator during a certain section of a calculus course. Adam could not understand how evolution brought us to calculators, and now he was being told to learn math without one - when one could have made his work more efficient? Adam later realized that the teacher was just trying to explain how the calculus techniques worked and practicing them without a calculator was a great way to comprehend their structure. Anyway, Adam didn’t pay much attention in class and decided to draw every day instead. He started making abstractions that he thought were really cool - and so did other people! It wasn’t until his first year of college at NYU that Adam began playing around with blending his drawings with his photographs - he loved the result, and so did others! During this time, Adam was playing around again with electronic music - his piano lessons that started at 3 and went until age 11 (when he quit and gave it up for tennis) - gave him a natural ability to create melodies in digital audio workstations. He still couldn’t create the sounds that he wanted to hear and lost hope for a while. During this time, he decided to take a year off from college to see if he could make it as an artist in the world. He could create art easily and people would seem to react to it as if it were a divine gift. His music; however, wasn’t there yet and this created a constant struggle for him because that was his true passion, more so than visual art. Anyway, Adam did a million different things until he had a little too much fun and then decided to go to rehab. He was in rehab for 4 months, then lived in halfway houses for another 8 months after that. This was a very dark time for Adam because he wanted to create art and music, but the recovery environments didn’t support him creating the way he wanted to. After a year of recovery, Adam was finally able to get back into his zone where he could just have all day long and all night long to create. While at rehab, Adam was taking a time out from the world. He had time to really think about what he wanted to do with his life and ended up realizing that music was what he wanted to do with his life. He realized he would still do art, but made the decision to prioritize his life with the production of music. Today Adam almost has 20 months sober in recovery and is living the happiest life he could ever imagine. He realizes that it will take hard work to get to where he wants to go; however, it is getting easier and easier every day - especially because he is getting closer and closer to creating the music he hears in is head - it is getting easier and easier for him which is breath taking and mind boggling to him. He was so afraid to start pursuing his real passion - music - because he didn’t believe he had enough time to make it happen. There were also times where he didn’t believe in himself either - he doubted his dreams and just took the more safe path which was art at the time. It is funny though, because this path was still not as safe because Adam wanted to become a professional contemporary artist and 99.999% of the true artists out there are starving artists, something like that. Adam had no shadow of a doubt that he would be able to make success out of his art, and he is now really excited because of his fashion line - Adam Brobjorg. Adam Brobjorg - the fashion line - has over 33,000 followers on the Rage On App - created by Rage On which is the company that Adam signed a deal with. Adam is extremely excited to see what happens with his clothing line in this next year! Adam is partnered with Google, has worked at NASA as a High School Aerospace Scholar, was featured on HBO’s show called Masterclass with Bruce Weber, is an Earthwatch Fellowship Recipient, is a Where There Be Dragons Scholarship Recipient, has won numerous national and international awards for his art, is represented by Coupralux Gallery and Select Art Gallery, and was a National Foundation of the arts Young Arts Finalist in Photography. Adam continues to work on his art and music, and is excited for you to hear the music that is in his head that he has been trying to get out and into the world for a very long time.
